Date Night Unplugged and Bitches Do Super Bowl

So. It's official. Punxsutawney Phil and Jack Frost have formed an alliance with one another and decided there are 6 more weeks of winter ahead of us. I love animals, I do... but this one... 2 words: road kill. I want him taxidermied (ugly red squiggly line tells me that's not a word... you're not the boss of me, ugly red squiggly line!) and displayed above our TV so I can flip him off every day.

Friday

  • Pete and I had another Date Night Unplugged. I made us dinner (you can turn a hoe into a housewifegirlfriend!) and we caught up on some TV together. Both of us are always attached to either a computer or our phones and this is the 2nd time in the past week that we've done this. I have to say, it's pretty awesome... I highly recommend it! We were much more present and our time together had a higher quality.

Saturday

  • I was supposed to go over to my friend Tonia's place and pig out/watch chick flicks, but, Mother Nature had other plans and decided to shit all over the area, so, we had to cancel. That bitch is skating on reeeeeal thin... ice (hardy har har!).

Sunday

  • Bitches Do Super Bowl was held with the same group of girlfriends that had the Christmas party in our PJs. The game was boring, the commercials sucked, halftime was meh... but the snacks and company were fantastic and that's really all that mattered to us anyway.

I started reading the Harry Potter series yet again this weekend. Did you see the CNN article published this weekend regarding a recent interview in which JK Rowling stated that Harry and Hermione should've ended up together rather than Ron and Hermione? I agree with her. Ron has always irritated the shit out of me for several reasons, sorry (not sorry).

Everyone: On a scale from 1-10, how blah do you think the Super Bowl was overall? I'm going with a solid 9, and that's only because I got to see John Stamos in boxer shorts, which has been a dream of mine for some time now ("Have mercy!").

HP Fans: Do you think Hermione should've ended up with Harry, or do you think that Ron was the better choice?

  1. I give zero fucks about the Superbowl, and even I thought it was boring. And the commercials were laaaaame.

There were a couple times I thought Harry and Hermione might get together, but I'm glad they didn't end that way, just because I like Ginny and Harry. Ginny seems like the type of person Harry would end up with in my opinion. Ron is a big dork though, so Ron and Hermione are an interesting match in my opinion - Hermione is pretty badass and Ron is messing things up half the time.

  2. For me, the Super Bowl was AWESOME! Go Hawks! :)
And my fave commercial was the puppy Budweiser one... The full house reunion one came in second with Seinfeld in 3rd... Can't wait for the reunion of that show!

  3. i've only read up to prisioner of azkaban and just cannot read more. does it get better? i think i left off at the part where harry was hiding under some table and overheard a convo of the teachers talking about sirius black and how he killed his parents (or something like that). then i screamed in frustration at how slow the books were and threw it down. does it get better after that book because i want to love HP too. it must be good since everyone loves them.

also superbowl - me falling asleep while husband rubbed my feet. who won? (not that i care).

  4. Am I the only one who didn't watch the Superbowl? But of course that didn't stop me from enjoying game food!

  5. I love the idea of unplugged date night, will have to use that myself! We only watched a bit of the Superbowl but I was not a fan of the commercials or the half time show. I think Ron was the better choice, someone needed to help lighten Hermione up!

  6. I would rate the Super Bowl a 10. I love football and I stopped watching before the half-time show. Just NO.

Also, I don't think Hermione should have ended up with Harry OR Ron. I don't have any super big qualms about the Ron/Hermione pairing but I love the Harry/Ginny pairing.

  7. blah over the superbowl. so disappointed in it, and i'm not even a sports fan.
i'm heading to wwohp in orlando on monday! iaejroiurweijer <---my excitement

  8. I read the same thing this morning about Harry and Hermione and it said that Hermione would not necessarily be satisfied with Ron long-term. I disagree though! I think Hermione and Ron were definitely well suited for each other in many ways because he makes her laugh and she makes him smarter...and I love that Harry and Ginny ended up together. Interesting to ponder it all though!!

  9. Love the unplugged date idea! I've been wanted to start a "wireless Wednesday" or something like that, after work hours obv., but it's gotten off to a rough start...

  10. I did not watch the Superbowl because I don't have too, so there. Phil needs to become roadkill. I am so over Winter.

  11. I didn't watch the Super Bowl (not football fans in my house - except college ball. I'll dabble in watching college football). Instead of the Super Bowl, my husband and I watched past episodes of Scandal. I got hooked around Thanksgiving and now I'm trying to get him hooked since it's coming back this month. My plan has worked - he likes it (even though at first he thought it was a chick show)!

  12. I'm going to give it a 9 also only because one of the first commercials I saw had James Franco in it. I would like some of that please. And the Broncos didn't even show up. Shit-tee game!!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. LOL at Have Mercy! I totally agree that the Super Bowl was lame. I kept waiting for the Broncos to score and once the second half rolled around, I just kept hoping the commercials would be better. I give it a 4. I was home in my PJ's not feeling great anyway, and we had no good snacks, so it was extra lame!

I like Harry ending up with Ginny because it gave him a real, extended family. If it was him and Hermione, didn't she already basically send her muggle parents into hiding or something? Ron needs a strong personality to follow, so I think it worked!

  14. I mean honestly Ron is a whiny little b*tch and there is no way him and Hermione would be together she is was too hardheaded and outspoken. In real life she would totally train wreck him. Side note when I was in London two summers ago Emma Watson was shopping next to me in the clearance bins at H&M....I was like no way Hermione and I are like discount shopping together. She was like the size of my left leg....so tiny!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I liked Bruno Mars and some of the commercials. The game itself was lame.

Date Night Unplugged! I like it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was never a huge Ron fan either, but I liked the way it ended up only because if Hermione were to have ended up with Harry it would've been super predictable. And plus, considering Harry ends up with Ginny (hopefully I didn't just spoil anything for anyone) that means that Harry and Ron, formerly BFFs are now in-laws! So I feel ok about how everything turned out ;)

  17. We did a date night unplugged on Saturday night- a movie and popcorn with no cell phones- it was pretty awesome :)

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Ron/Hermione/Harry thing....in my mind, it's already happened. Why say that it was the wrong choice and mess with my life.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The game sucked. I wanted it to at least be close. The commercials were pretty good, I thought! I thought Bruno Mars was awesome and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were stupid. Unplugged date night is a great idea!-Ashley

    ReplyDelete
  19. You didn't like the half time show?? That was the only part I watched and I thought Bruno was fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I watched the Super bowl with one eye on it & my other on Netflix... only paid attention to the commercials (missed the stupid John Stamos one!) & flipped over to the Puppy Bowl when I could.

I did actually want Hermoine & Harry together - BUT I do like how she connected them all as family - Harry being with Ginny, how brother in law with Ron & Hermoine... that soothed me over.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I was totally tuned out during the Super Bowl but have caught some commercials today. I did eat cheese though- in bed. And I wish Harry and Hermoine had ended up together too.

    ReplyDelete
  22. let's be honest...winter lasts in minnesota until may, so who gives a shit what that stupid groundhog says? he doesn't know anything.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I like your unplugged dates! We do "no phones at dinner" and that has made a big difference, since that's where I think it's most annoying.
Oh to read HP again, for some reason, I want to save it for when I'm pregnant (weird?) And I totally wish she would have written it as she sees it now, because I HATE GINNY WEASLEY!

    ReplyDelete
  24. That groundhog is a fraud. He's a POS.

I wasn't really sold on any of the couples in Harry Potter. I would've liked the series without all the relationship drama.

And John Stamos only gets better with age.

    ReplyDelete
  25. We dont get the same commercials in Canada so now I have to youtube the John Stamos commercial. It's like the fucking third world up here!

    ReplyDelete
  26. YES! Finally someone else who doesn't like Ron! I actually still need to read books 5-7...but I'm apparently dumb and thought Harry and Hermione DID end up together-- but did Harry end up with Ron's sister? See, I don't even know???

    ReplyDelete
  27. The game: 10. Commercials: 10. Halftime: awesome so 1 but I do wish RHCP would have played more! One of my reading goals this year is to reread the entire HP series because I never finished it! I know, I suck.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The game: 9. I did love a lot of the commercials but the game was so boring! I didn't care for either team to win which just made it even more blah. NFL just isn't my thing and I had no allegiance to either team. AND you'll be proud to know I'm reading the next HP book :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Winter and I are through, we are broken up! And I don't think Hermione and Harry should have ended up together, but I also think Ron is super annoying!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Harry definitely should have ended up with Hermione! Ron just seemed like a strange fit.
And I give the Superbowl a 7.5. I loved the Seinfeld commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Chris and I always get on to each other when we are watching TV about our cell phones. An unplugged night is awesome!

I watched the first like 2 minutes of the Super Bowl and first set of commercials and we were totally bored so we watched a few episodes of Shark Tank, and then caught the last few minutes of the game and the Best Buds commercial. I don't care that I didn't see anything else, the Best Buds commercial was amazing and made me tear up and I love it! I didn't give two shits about either team or Bruno Mars. Yay for yummies and girls time!

I just started the last book, and while I had a HIUGE feeling that Hermione and Ron were going to end up together...thanks for the spoiler bitch! Haha jk. Like I said....I knew they would end up together...they have only been hinting about it forever. I think Ron is a whiney little bitch though and he certainly gets on my nerves.

  32. I love watching shows with my husband. We usually put away our computers/phones by 8 and watch TV together until 11.

We got snow yesterday and we're getting it again tomorrow AND Thursday. Grrr. I need warmth!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Date night unplugged... I swear this is happening for me (eventually). I hope you're having a great Monday!

    ReplyDelete
  34. The Super Bowl was boring. The game wasn't interesting, the commercials were whatever, and half time was okay. I did like the food we had though. I had a major (food) cheat day! Im glad I live where I do. I don't know if I could deal with the snow. Cali can't even deal with rain!

    ReplyDelete
  35. everyone does super bowl for the food. and if they aren't they are doing it wrong and need to reevaluate their life

    ReplyDelete
  36. I stopped watching the game. That's how BLAH it was. I did however enjoy seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers! :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. When Tyson is home I use my phone/computer a lot less. We only get two nights at home together so those two nights I'm mostly unplugged, it's nice for us just to hang out and watch TV.

Harry and Ginny were the perfect match, while there were a few times in the book I though he and Hermione should be together I didn't feel that way by the end.

    ReplyDelete
  38. While reading much of the series I felt like I was rooting for Hermione and Harry to be together, but they are almost too similar, and they both have too strong of personalities. In the end I think Hermione and Ron work better.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That stupid rodent can go to hell. everything else looks fun/nice though :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Now all I can think about is what could have happened in the world of Harry Potter… this will consume my life. I guess I need to reread the books now. The game was boring. It's all about the parties :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I didn't watch the Super Bowl because I was steadily bitching about the Budweiser commercial being leaked and there really being no reason to watch it because all I wanted to see was commericals and I could just youtube them rather than suffering through an entire game with two teams that I cared nothing about..

    ReplyDelete
  42. I watched half an hour of the Super Bowl (or the superb owl as I saw it called in a few memes!) and got so bored I was losing the will to live, so I turned over to SVU. The only balls I'm interested in are Jason Momoa's. Don't tell my husband. :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. Did you see the latest thing she said about Ron being "ronbldore" a time traveling dumbledore... Like wth? I think I need to read them again myself. Also thought the super bowl sucked really bad. I'm affectionetly calling it the super bowel

  45. I want to live by you and join your fun girls nights! I don't have that :( Sadly, being military, it's hard to make friends...especially when most girls are c-u-know-whats. I have very few girlfriends and reading your post makes me jealous!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. (Yes, I commented again...and now a third time. I forgot I wanted to say that lol)

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm allll for Hermione and Harry. Some HP fans are really upset though! I always thought they should be together.

And I love the idea of unplugged date night. That is such a good idea.

I also love that you make time for your ladies even when you are in a relationship. A lot of my girlfriends have a hard time with that and I'm missing my girlfriend time now that everyone is coupling up. You are lucky to have a great group of ladies there for you :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't know who should have ended up together. I think I would have had something to say no matter how it went down. Come visit me in AZ! You and the weather would get along perfect! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have yet to read the Harry Potter series. It is on my 30 before 30 list so please make sure I knock those out. Unfortunately they don't offer them on my kindle so I have to go and buy the dang books. lol

    ReplyDelete
  50. Super Bowl def got a 9 in my book too !! The best part of it was going to my brother in laws house and devouring way too many cupcakes. With Harry Potter I agree I would have liked to see him with Hermione. That Ron annoyed me from the beginning for some no reason at all lol

    ReplyDelete
  51. I didn't see the Super Bowl at all! Unfortunately I wasn't able to...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I didn't even watch the Superbowl but apparently it was boring enough that my husband watched Downton Abbey with me when it came on at 8. So yeah, I'd say it was probably lame. :P

    ReplyDelete
  53. so annoyed with the groundhog too! though since this winter has really awful, i'm not surprised. and I barely watched the superbowl. the boy was in the living room watching it with his friends. I provided some snacks for them and hid upstairs.

  54. 1) she should have been with Harry.
    2) i didnt watch this Superbowl, I just you tubed the commercials. Those are the best parts anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 1) We watched the SuperBowl on Monday night since the husband had a huge anatomy test on Monday morning. Which, turned out to be a blessing because we knew we could fast forward through all the boring commercials and just skip the fourth quarter altogether. But, we still had a party with some awesome, understanding friends so that was fun.

    2) I think Hermione and Ron make more sense together - maybe that's because on that stupid "Which Harry Potter character are you quiz?" my husband got Ron and I got Hermione. :P

    ReplyDelete
  56. Well for me the super bowl was epic (obvi!!) but I can totally see how everyone else thought it was blah. It wasn't even really a game, just the poor Broncos getting shit all over, LOL. I almost felt bad for Peyton Manning because he looked like he was about to cry. There were some good commercials at least though! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  57. An unplugged date night is such a great idea! The game was awesome for the Seahawks, I don't think the Broncos even decided to play. I thought it would be a really close game.. Wonder what happened! I can't say much because I am obviously a Seahawks fan :D I FREAKING LOVE THE HARRY POTTER BOOKS! I've been wanting to re-read them for quite some time but I have so many other books that I need to read that its ridiculous. I always thought that Harry and Hermione would wind up together, so I was sad they didn't. But I guess her and Ron make sense, to me ish.
