"Smitten in the Mitten"

Yo, yo, yo!

Pete and I have been out of town for the past few days, celebrating the wedding of friends of ours in Traverse City, which is why I haven't been around. The resort had free Wi-Fi, but, I purposely left my computer and tablet at home, because I wanted to be present... something I've been working on lately. I even managed to take pictures - something else I've been working on lately.

When we got home, I did something I've never done before... marked all as read on my entire bloglovin' feed - not even posts from my favorites were safe. There was just no way I would've ever caught up and so I made the executive decision to not even attempt it.

Anyway, the actual trip...

Johnny Cakes had to stay at the boarder which just about killed me. Pete dropped him off because I couldn't handle it and I still cried... twice! The place he goes to is great, but, he's my baby. That's all. (By the way, I'm definitely that mom who provided them with a detailed list of instructions and called multiple times to check up on him.) He doesn't like daycare so we arranged for private play time with an employee but he wasn't having none of that either this time. Pete regarding his time in solitary confinement: "He's gonna be all buff from doing tons of push-ups and have a tear-drop tattoo." Luckily, he came out like he went in.

We drove there and back with a couple of friends of ours (our entire group of friends actually met up there, which was pretty awesome) and that was a blast in and of itself. I had so much fun that I didn't even nap... and isn't that what road trips are for?!

The place we stayed at had some pretty bomb ass attractions (CAUTION: major food porn ahead):

SO MANY MACARONS! I got S'Mores, Peanut Butter and Jelly, and Red Velvet. I audibly moaned while I ate them. By far one of my favorite sweet thangs.
Dylan's Candy Bar and Café.
Private beach with a bar and shuttle service. Yes, please!

The wedding itself was on the beach, which was a gorgeous setting. The weather couldn't make up its mind and we got poured on twice while we waited, but, luckily by the time the bride came down the aisle everything was dry (except my face, cleavage, rolls, and ass crack... it was hot as fuck and I was sweating like a whore in church). It was an adorable ceremony... the couple is ridiculously cute together and their love for each other was so obvious - pretty awesome!

Hotel room selfie.
With one of my best friends, Katlyn.
Quite possibly the cutest favors ever.

Other highlights from the weekend include but aren't limited to: a Starbucks in the lobby, making a poop so big I literally had to chop it up with a pen in order to get it to flush, and dancing so long and so hard that I ached for the entire day after.

 Congrats to Dan and Lindsey!

I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone and I can't wait to hear about how your weekends went!

Have you ever marked all as read?
What's your favorite dessert?!

  7. The pen... Amanda... I can't!

ANYWAY yes, mark as read is your bff, along with phone reading on the couch and not commenting. Lurker status right here. Glad you had a great time and lots of treats!

  8. I have to leave Warner at the boarders next week and I am freaking the eff out. I've done it before but I cry like a fucking baby every single time. I literally can't handle it. So basically I feel your pain.

  9. Bahaha. The pen! That is too funny.

I have been marking everything as read or, you know, have just plain avoided Bloglovin lately. Life happens. I don't always have time to blog and read blogs 100 %. Sorry. Not sorry. :)

  10. omg Amanda, why be so funny for? I was giggling so loud (especially at the poop + pen) that my co worker stuck her fat head out demanding what I was laughing at. go away. anyway! you are so pretty! sounds like a beautiful wedding + fun weekend. Poor puppy though :( I hate leaving pets (cats get props for being able to be left alone, right?) aaaaannnd alllll that food. yum.

  12. Oh Amanda hahaha you really need to open with poop lines because I was sipping coffee and awww-ing at the wedding stuff and nearly choked and legit spit my coffee on my computer when I read that you cut your shit with your pen. I am dying laughing over here. Prepare a bitch for those one liners!

  15. I got a baby boner from the ice cream with sprinkles and a full-on seeing you all dressed up. Hot damnnnn gurl.

  16. So I've never had a Macaron. Can we still be friends? haha

  17. I hate when I have to board my dogs. Gracie breaks my heart every time. She clings on to my legs and wraps her paws around them like she is a 5 year old child. The vet techs always have to come pull her off me and drag her away crying. Mac...he just walks off like "peace out bro!" I don't know which one hurts me worse?! I always walk back to the car sobbing hysterically.

I have marked all as read a few times. Sometimes you just cant!!!!

    The pen. Oh my....

  18. You look gorgeous! What a beautiful place to have a wedding- even with the heat! We're heading to Lake Michigan later this summer and I could not be more excited! I've got into the habit of marking all my posts as read on Sunday night! It's way easier than starting the week off overwhelmed with so many posts in the queue!

  19. Look at your beautiful face!!! :)
Good for you for leaving all gadgets behind... more people need to be present in a moment.
Girl... I've hit that "mark all as read" when I just can't handle it myself...

  20. Glad you had an amazing trip! Nothing wrong with marking all as read- otherwise its just a vacation causing stress which is ridiculous.

  23. Loved your look for the wedding, so pretty. I had to mark some as read from my road trip days but i just couldn't mark them all read, so much guilt. I'm weak.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Bahahah! Hilarious that you made the executive decision to mark all as read! I do that sometimes but I go through my favorites first. :) When I came back from vacation I had almost 400 unread posts and I wanted to die! I love the theme of the wedding! So cute! And you looked beautiful of course! :)

  27. I love Smitten in the Mitten, so cute!

I hate sweating so bad my ass crack sweats, there are few things worse than a drop of sweat running down your ass crack when you are in a place where you can't just reach back and stop it.

  28. I'm marking shit as read as we speak. I'm tired and feel old after my weekend wedding road trip and I don't give a shit. Well, I don't give a shit big enough to be broken up with a pen. Hot damn what did you eat?

    You looked great.

    ReplyDelete
  29. What the hell are you eating??? Bales of hay??? Stop it!!! You look great by the way, like you just did the master cleanse or something:)

    ReplyDelete
  30. OMG I love that you took a PEN to it! This is why I love you. You looked so pretty & I definitely looked at the ice cream picture like 3 or 4 times drooling.

    ReplyDelete
  31. You look so pretty!!! And yes give me all da macaroons! haha.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I had to reread that last paragraph like 4 times to make sure I read that right.....and now I can't get that visual out of my head. Was the pen already in the bathroom or did you have to SOS Pete to come and get it...hahahahaha side note you looked gorgeous.

  33. You have super poop. Seriously. I poop, a LOT and have never had flushing issues. I'm quite impressed by you :)

  42. I have definitely declared feed bankruptcy on several (okay, fine. A whole freaking lot) of occasions. Sometimes you just have to do it.

It looks like you had a wonderful (and delicious) weekend. I think it's sometimes necessary to leave all the distractions at home.

  43. OMG S'Mores and PB & J macarons!?! They sound amazing! I'd love to go to Traverse City one day. I keep trying to convince my sister (who lives in Michigan) that we should go, but she always comes up with a lame excuse even though she insists she really does want to visit.
I don't hit "mark as read," but I just skip over a lot of blogs when I'm busy!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm a "mark all as read" kinda girl. Shhhh. I don't mean to buuuuut it happens. Most of the time I don't even feel bad about it. You are so gorgeous! I wish I looked that pretty taking selfies.. you DO NOT want to see my selfies. Ewwwy.

Feed me all that food. Feed it to me!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ahem. What do you MEAN you "chopped it up"??! My absolute fave dessert would have to be brownie sundaes, but anything from Dylan's works too :) Great pics- you look gorgeous!

  50. Beach weddings are so pretty but I would be so nervous that it would and ruin my day. The bride must have been stressing out! I'm glad you had fun. Looks like a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm glad your dog survived solitary confinement, poor guy XD. Sprinkle ice cream!! Ice cream should always have sprinkles when possible.
